The symptothermal method

The symptothermal method – a combination of the temperature method and the cervical mucus method – is the most reliable form of natural family planning.

Daily measurement of the basal body temperature and observation of the consistency of the vaginal mucus are used to determine the time of ovulation and thus the fertile days.

You must enter the results of your measurements and observations conscientiously in a chart every day.

This allows you to identify the fertile days on which you must either abstain from intercourse or use a barrier method (e.g. diaphragm, cervical cap, chemical contraceptives, condom).
