The sex organs (genitals) are the organs of the reproductive system.
In women the external sex organs are the mons pubis, the vaginal lips or labia (folds of skin that cover and protect the entrance to the vagina and the urethra) and the clitoris. An important function of the external sex organs, particularly the clitoris, is to stimulate and increase sexual pleasure.
The female internal sex organs - ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and vagina - are located in the pelvic cavity. Their functioning is controlled by the sex hormones.
